Greetings everyone! Meet Winnie!

Please tell me a bit about yourself.

I’m the founder of Nimetosha Travel Advisors, a company rooted in the belief that travel is a powerful form of self-care and self-discovery. “Nimetosha” means “I am Enough” in Kiswahili—a declaration I embraced to challenge the lack of representation for travelers like me: fat, Black, and unapologetically exploring the world.

Through Nimetosha, I curate inclusive luxury travel experiences that center joy, empowerment, and cultural connection for historically underrepresented travelers. We design immersive journeys that reflect our travelers’ identities and partner with destinations that welcome everyBODY. My mission is to make travel more accessible, affirming, and impactful, because everyone deserves to feel seen, celebrated, and free to explore the world on their own terms.

How has travel impacted your life and how has it changed you and your family life?

Travel has ignited a deep desire within me to see more of the world and connect with more people. Growing up, we took family trips within Kenya, where I’m originally from, but our first big journey was immigrating to the United States. Now as adults, travel plays a major role in our lives. We’re fortunate to afford international trips, and we take one family trip each year to celebrate my son’s birthday – it’s become a meaningful tradition.

What has been your most favorite travel experience and why?

My favorite travel experience was my recent trip to Egypt for my 33rd birthday. It was my second solo trip as a mom, but the first time in a long while that I truly felt like myself. Everything was planned perfectly, thanks to an incredible local tour company. The balance of adventure, rest, and cultural immersion made it unforgettable.

Do you have any tips or advice for people who want to travel more?

Travel doesn’t always have to be international or cost thousands of dollars. Sometimes it’s as simple as exploring the town next door. Many people haven’t even left their hometowns! Start with a staycation or a short trip within your region, whatever fits your comfort and budget. Travel is more about intention and experience than distance.

Why did you choose to travel to India from the USA?

My sister was a bridesmaid in a wedding taking place in Jaipur. She’s my best travel buddy, so when she asked me to be her plus one, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. It turned into an unforgettable adventure we got to share together.

I did the golden triangle starting in Jaipur. It’s the journey exploring New Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, in north India.

The wedding was in Jaipur for 3 days so when that was done, I spent two days exploring the city. I visited City Palace, Amber/Amer Fort, and Hawa Mahal. I then traveled to Agra to witness the Taj Mahal. I was there for a day. In addition I also went to Red/Agra Fort. I finished my journey with two days in New Delhi. There I got to see the RastraPati Bhawan, the presidential palace, where I learned they have a female president!

I also visited Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, a Sikh temple that feeds thousands of people a day for free, with volunteers!

What are the must have items in your packing list?

I always pack my face products to keep my skin hydrated mid-flight, my AirFly wireless transmitter for connecting my headphones to in-flight entertainment, phone, a mini travel fan, every type of charger I might need, lotion, Vaseline, credit card, camera and microphone for content creation, and a good water bottle. These essentials keep me comfortable and connected wherever I go.

Why do you think it’s important for women to travel?

It’s so important for women to keep pursuing their passions through all life’s transitions. Before I became a mom, I traveled in a body that society told me to shrink and hide. When I became a mother, there was pressure to slow down, stay home, and focus solely on raising my child. But during my son’s first year of life, I actually traveled more than ever before. Showing other women that it’s possible to be a mother and a traveler helps break down the barriers. You really can have it all.

Where can people follow your travel journeys?
