Greetings everyone! Meet Temisha!

Tell me a little about yourself.

I am originally from Greenville, Mississippi, born and raised.

I have a BS in Education K-8 and a MA in Teaching and Learning K-12.

I moved to Cleveland, Ohio immediately after graduating from college and taught many years before moving abroad.

How has travel impacted your life and how has it changed you and your family life?

Moving abroad enabled me to “find me”. To understand who Temisha is. I knew who and what I was to everyone else. I needed to get to know me. I’ve found that there are many things that I LOVE about myself and many that I don’t and both are ok! I’ve found that I enjoy my own company and that my tolerance for foolishness is nonexistent. As a solo expat, I miss my family so much. I am so grateful for technology and the constant advancements. I do at times, miss being home for life events! I tell people all the time that with gain, there is loss. My family is supportive and that’s what allows me to keep on “expatING”!

What has been your most favorite travel experience and why?

I can’t say I’ve had a “most favorite”. I’ve gone places and seen things that I never dreamed of, not even in my wildest fantasy. Every country I’ve gone to has been amazing and a learning experience. Most memorable was Taj Mahal because my friend that I went with  passed away several months later.

She was my best friend in Delhi and life here has not been the same for me since her passing.

Do you have any tips or advice for people who want to travel more?

JUST DO IT! Eat the cake! LOL! Experience for yourself and be open minded. It still amazes me the way people don’t go because “they said” country XYZ is unsafe, or people aren’t nice, etc. I’m always saying stop listening to them and go! Form your own opinion.

People ask about moving abroad a lot and have watched the over romanticized youtube videos, tik toks, and IG stories. I try to offer people the “real” when asked by letting them know that even abroad “life still lifes”, meaning it goes on. It’s not like being on vacation 24/7.

Why did you choose to relocate to Southeast Asia?

I moved to the far east first. I lived in China for four years and then moved to India in South Asia for three years. in August I’ll move to country #3 which is in Southeast Asia! Asia is HUGE and people tend to clump all the sections as one which I’ve found isn’t true. Every step has been God’s plan for my life. I’ve always said I’d live in Abu Dhabi or Dubai but God said “that’s what you think”!

What are the must have items in your packing list?

I am a 10 checked bag, 1 carry on item, 1 personal item, sneak a crossbody through type of girl!

I moved to India with a 500lb air shipment. I need my things. They bring me joy on the toughest of days. I have food, snacks, facial items and hygiene items. I’m not a minimalist.

Why do you think it’s important for women to travel?

BECAUSE WE CAN AND SHOULD!

Where can people follow your travel journeys?

I post my REAL LIFE abroad! The great and the bad. I don’t just post reels, or memes or travel.
