Hi everyone! It’s a new week and I promised to write on here more often, so expect to read a lot!

The past few months traveling around Honduras has been an absolute world wind to say the least.

There are things that you should know about Honduras if you want to travel solo around here.

This country is still developing, and not built for digital nomads outside of the island of Roatan.

Utila is a baby island and relatively new with tourists, so they aren’t as equipped for them.

Honduras itself offers only 30-90 day stays for tourists and does not offer online extensions.

They don’t have longterm visas for digital nomads, so the ones I have met do visa runs outside the country or just overstay their visa and pay a fee.

It’s not a country I would recommend for solo backpacking, unless you are very experienced with travel planning and know how to navigate it on your own. I recommend traveling in groups here.

If you want to visit solo, going to the islands is best in my opinion, because they are more accustomed to tourism, and can help with getting around more.

My favorite place in Honduras is Tela, Atlántida.

Not many tourists visit there so it’s more localized, and it also makes me feel like I’m in a small town.

It’s a small coastal town and a real hidden treasure.

If you want to experience the life of locals in the mainland of Honduras, I recommend that you visit.

Another region of the country I like is Utila.

Utila is another great place to visit and to experience meeting locals from around the country.

Another thing to note about solo travel, the buses for travel within the country are run by Christina Express and they offer no restrooms on their buses.

The only buses that have them travel outside the country to surrounding neighboring countries and regions. I have never seen this situation before!

It was very shocking to me to discover this information, and it is the one of the main reasons I don’t recommend solo traveling here for long extended trips without using your own vehicle.

I have bus solo traveled all over the world, but in this country I will only travel short distances on buses. There is no train system here I’m aware of.

Outside of this, it has been pretty easy to get around. Christina buses are approximately $5-15.

I will be traveling with them again soon out of the country, so be on the lookout for more posts!
